In my rock climbing class today we watched a great film about mountaineering survival.  After watching the movie I will never complain about anything … ever again.  This guy loses like a third of his body weight and breaks his leg in a way that must be the most excruciating pain ever.  He ends up hallucinating hardcore and having some very strange psychological things happen to him on the way down.  Its called Touching the Void and is the story of Joe Simpson, the one that gets messed up, and Simon Yates and their epic mountaineering journey up and down the west face of Siula Grande (a mountain that had never been climbed before) in the Peruvian Andes in 1985.  Along with extreme conditions they must deal with injury and intense life threatening decisions.  It is a great story of strength and hope.  Check it out.  Simpson also wrote a book, of the same name, about the experience.
