Stumbled Upon Stumble!

Just a few hours ago my friend approached me with a question that would warp my evening into a frenzy of internet fun.

”Hey Bennett, have you ever stumbled?”

I know what you’re thinking, “Is that some kind of sick new way mind altering activity?”   Well the answer is no.  It happens to be the best way to amuse yourself on the internet … EVER!!!

StumbleUpon, in its full name, is a Moxilla Firefox Add-on. Add-ons are little attachments that you can “add-on” to your Firefox brower to enhance the experience.  There is everything from dictionaries, to search engines, to blog readers, a slew of RSS feed retreivers, and an oportunity to write your own Add-on.  Among these Add-ons is of course StumbeUpon.  (Note: StumbleUpon also claims to work for Internet Explorer)

StumbleUpon is a toolbar that rests right below the normal toolbar of your home Firefox page.  When your first download it you will be asked to register and fill out a little check-box form of your interests.  Stumble will look at these interests and pull up crazy websites that have to do with your interests every time you click “Stumble!”  And  if you want to see more of something in particular you can tweek your interests to suit that days needs.  If that wasn’t enough there is a “I like it!” button that will save the websites you say you’ve liked and stay away from the stuff you aren’t liking so much.

It has been approximately one hour since I found out about Stumble and I’m already and addict.

Just so you can get the jist of the crazy websites it pulls up, here is a link and description of what came  up for me.

www.jacksonpollock.org - Its like splater painting on the internet.  Don’t forget to click, the color will change.

CN Tower Time Lapse  - Watch the time laspe from atop a skyscraper.  Left to right is morning to night.

Top 40 Photoshoped Images - Someones compilation of 40 awesome photoshoped images.

Esty -  This is by far the winner of the night.  It is an interactive internet store.  You can shop in different ways.  The particular shopping mode that I was sent to was by color.  Just click a color on a color scale and products that match that color are brought up.  There are ways to find stuff by location, time posted, o by category.  Absolutely amazing, and great fun.

It that isn’t evidence enough to start Stumbling I don’t know what is.  So get out there, and get Stumbling!
