Skyscape

There is an amazing art installation at the college that is two colleges away from my college (it’s a consortium, ya know).  It’s called Skyscape and it will blow your mind.

The basic idea is there is a white wall with a square cut out of the middle.  There are a serice of lights that are just below the wall that shine really intensly bright colored lights up onto the “ceiling/wall”.  While the sun is rising and setting there are less intense colors that contrast the color of the sky that is visible through the hole.

Then after has become dark, the lights start low and increase intensity until you’re pretty sure that “this is going to be the bluest blue I’ll ever see.”

It’s awesome.  If you are ever in the Pomona/Claremont area the show starts 45 minutes before sunrise or sunset.  The “dark” show is every hour on the hour and runs for about 5 minutes.
